How the Pomodoro Technique works
- Work for 25 minutes (1 "Pomodoro") with full focus, no distractions
- Take a 5-minute break to refresh β stand up, drink water, look away from screen
- After 4 Pomodoros, take a longer 15-30 minute break
- Created by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s, named after his tomato (pomodoro in Italian) kitchen timer
Tips
- Don't check phone or social media during focus sessions
- If interrupted, restart the current Pomodoro
- Use breaks to actually rest, not for "small tasks"
- Keep your daily Pomodoro count modest (4-12) for sustainable productivity
